Iraq is located in the Middle East between between Iran, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey. Middle east is bordered on the Persian gulf between Iran and Kuwait .The absolute location is 33° 13' N 43° 40' E. The relative location of Iraq is in west of Iran. The border countries are Jordan, Kuwait, Arabia, Syria, turkey and Iran. The cities in Iraq are Mosul, Kirkuk, Karbala, Erbil, Suleymaniye, al-Kut, and Bagdad. Bagdad is the capital of iraq and Erbil is the capital of Kurdistan.

Flag of Iraq

Three equal horizontal bands of red (top).white, and black with three five-pointed stars in a horizontal line centered in the white band. The writing on the flag says Allahu Akbar winch means God is great. Allahu in on the right of the middle star and Akbar is on the left of the middle star. The flag was added in January 1191 during the Persian Gulf crisis. The flag is similar to Syrian flag but with no writing on it.

Shatt al arab is a river in southwest Asia of some 200 km (120 mi) in length, formed by the confluence of the Euphrates and the Tigris in the town of al-Qurnah in the Basra Governoate of southern Iraq. The climate in Iraq its more than just hot and desert and dry. It has an average of around 99 degrees per day.

The most important Islamic holidays (based on the Islamic lunar calendar) include Eid al-Fitr (the three-day feast at the end of the month of Ramadan), Eid al-Adha (Feast of the Sacrifice, which is held during the annual pilgrimage to Mecca and celebrates Abraham’s willingness to sacrifice his son), the Birth of the Prophet Muhammad (25 November), and Ashura (the Shiite Day of Atonement).In Iraq they celebrate labor day. It is celebrate it on the 1st day of may, and is very similar ti the Labor Day festivities in the western part of the world.They also celebrate Eid al- fitr its a another religious holiday celebrated widely in iraq and other Muslim countries.its on the final month of Ramadan it means participants no longer need to fast. Eid al- Fitr is observed during the 1st day of shawwal. which is the 10th month of the year according to the Muslim calendar.They celebrate birthdays same as everywhere. they celebrate wedding in a unique way.A month before the wedding the a engagement party is called (khitooba) In engagement party boys and girls close family members are invited.In this party they wear the rings, the fiance also bring a golden gift to his fiancee, dinner will be served. Afterward when the fiance is more comfortable with the fiancee. A night before the wedding day, there is "Lailat Al-henna. this is. Finally the wedding day comes, and the bride with her white dress, the groom with the usual suit.

Government of Iraq

Iraq has a parliamentary democracy type of government. Iraq has one president. They also have two vice presidents. They are part of the Presidency Council.The head of the state is Jalal Talabani.Jalal Talabani is the sixth and current president of Iraq and a leading Kurdish politician. He is the first non-Arab president of Iraq.Iraq gained independence on October 3,1932 from British administration under a league of Nation Mandate. Iraq has 7 government branches.

Soccer is the most popular sport in Iraq The iraq national soccer team are the 2007 AFC Asian cup Champion after defeating Saudi Arabia in the final. Basketball, swimming, boxing, kick boxing ,and tennis are also popular sports.In Iraq, there are at least two leagues,the Iraqi Basketball Association, they country's professional organization; runs a number of adult and youth leagues,and the premier Leagues, fir elite players. Most of the Arabian women cover their faces.Some women dress in clothes that do not cover their faces or hair, while others cover them. Men where things like dishdasha which are long usually white garments, sometimes coved by a black abaya. In Kurdistan they speak Kurdish.The Assyrians they speak Assyrians.The main language is Arabic most of Iraq speaks Arabic.They enjoy going out with friends watching movies. Islam is the national religion of Iraq.About 60-65% of Muslims belong to the shi'a sect 32-37% to the Sunnis sect.The major religion in Iraq is slam practiced by about 97% of Iraqis. the other 3% consists Chrisrianity and other religions.Islam was founded as a religion by Mohammed in the seventh Century.
